Mind Body Problem
This project focused on developing specific new architectural and infrastructural proposal for New York City in the after of Hurricane Sandy. In an effort to bridge immediate need and the academic resources of a university and school of architecture our work will focus on the NYS 2011 Commission report created for the Cuomo Administration with professional research and expertise guiled by Arup, New York.
In the Rockaway, Breezy Point, Staten Island and elsewhere along the New Yok and New Jersey Coastlines, conventional timber balloon frame house were largely destroyed by the storm surge, while multi story concrete building withstood the storm surge and persevered structurally, but suffered devastating loss of basic building services.
This project will follow a series of goals outlined in the report and on work specific to Arup’s internal studies.
